These hands-on, fun, cooking programs in Montgomery County PA (Montco), Near Philadelphia are for Junior Chefs of all skill levels. Learn new cooking and baking skills, explore flavors from around the world, and create new friendships! Students will learn to follow both simple and complex recipes while working as a team. Our weekly themes are designed to build confidence and each Junior Chefs’ personal culinary artistry. Time each day is spent divided between Baking and Pastry and the Culinary Arts Instruction to encourage our Junior Chefs the opportunity to explore all aspects of the Culinary field. Classes are Held at The Central Montco Technical High School in a full Commercial Kitchen
Chef Jarrett K. Young
As a chef, Jarrett has gathered many experiences from teaching high school students at a Technical College High School to a Culinary Arts Instructor at a summer cooking school for 8 years.
Becoming the Director of the Culinary Arts Summer Cooking School, widened his experiences to working with children of different ages. Jarrett is also an instructor for the Accredited Culinary Arts Program at Delaware County Community College under the direction of former Executive Chef of Le Bec Fin and owner of Gilmore's of West Chester, Peter Gilmore. In addition to his many educational experiences, Jarrett has held titles from Executive Chef to Entremetier Chef. His intense training started with World renowned French Master Chef Dominique Filoni, at Savona Cucina Della Costa. His career began as he studied at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park New York, where his love for cooking blossomed. Chef Young has a personality that allows people of many ages to understand and learn to enjoy cooking. He is patient and his sense of humor helps all people with their comfort levels in the kitchen. He gives the art of cooking a different flavor for people who never knew cooking could be so much fun. All of these experiences gave Chef Young the desire to share his knowledge and love of cooking with others.
Chef Maria Crann
After spending over 25 years in Federal law enforcement, Maria realized it was time for a change. Now she teaches baking and pastry to kids. Maria developed a passion for food and cooking at a very young age. This passion led her to obtain a degree in Culinary Arts. Once graduated, she held positions catering private events before taking a position as a Culinary Instructor for a Summer Camp program. She continues to pursue her love of cooking and the study of everything culinary. She enjoys seeing kids get excited and build their confidence when learning new skills in the kitchen.
