This summer, Create-a-Cook proudly launched at a brand-new location: Sacred Heart Academy in Bryn Mawr! We launched our first week with Taste Buds Adventure, an immersive culinary experience designed to introduce junior chefs to the joy of cooking through culture, creativity, and hands-on learning.

Chefs Seth and Carisa worked closely with a group of 10 eager junior chefs, guiding them through a flavorful week filled with essential kitchen skills and globally inspired dishes. Every day brought a new culinary challenge and a deeper appreciation for the diverse ingredients and techniques found around the world.

Throughout the week, campers rolled up their sleeves and made:

  • Pico de Gallo, Crema, and Quesadillas – a fun and flavorful start to the week featuring classic Mexican flavors and knife skills practice

  • Pasta alla Norma – a Sicilian-inspired dish with sautéed eggplant and homemade tomato sauce, highlighting balance and boldness

  • Panzanella – a Tuscan bread salad that helped campers explore textures, freshness, and seasoning

  • Chocolate Chip Cookies with Sea Salt – a sweet ending to the week, focusing on baking technique and flavor contrast

In just four short days, our junior chefs gained confidence in the kitchen while expanding their palates and discovering how food can connect people and cultures. From stirring sauces to seasoning salads, every step was hands-on and heart-filled.

We’re so proud of our first group of campers at Sacred Heart and grateful to Chefs Seth and Carisa for launching this new location with such creativity, energy, and care. Here’s to many more delicious summers ahead in Bryn Mawr!
