Week Two of our Summer 2026 season at Central Montco Technical High School welcomed another incredible group of junior chefs for Al Fresco Flavors, a hands-on culinary experience celebrating fresh ingredients, vibrant seasonal recipes, and the joy of summer cooking.

From June 29–July 2, campers explored how simple, fresh ingredients can be transformed into flavorful meals perfect for warm-weather gatherings. Throughout the week, junior chefs strengthened essential culinary skills including knife work, sautéing, seasoning, baking, kitchen organization, and teamwork while preparing a variety of savory dishes and homemade baked treats. Every recipe encouraged creativity, confidence, and an appreciation for cooking with seasonal ingredients.

Leading the culinary kitchen was Chef Shawn, whose passion for teaching and enthusiasm for cooking continued to inspire our young chefs throughout the week. In the baking and pastry kitchen, campers created an assortment of delicious baked goods while continuing to build foundational baking skills. Rounding out the team was Camp Counselor Sophia, whose energy, encouragement, and positive attitude helped make each day even more enjoyable for our junior chefs.

One of the many highlights of Week Two was welcoming back so many familiar faces. It was wonderful to see returning junior chefs from previous summers back in our kitchens, building on the skills they had already developed while welcoming new campers into the Create-a-Cook family. Watching those returning campers mentor, encourage, and celebrate alongside first-time participants is one of the things that makes our summer programs so special.
