Breakfast was served all week long during Eggsquisite Brunch Camp at Central Montco Technical High School, where junior chefs discovered that brunch is so much more than pancakes and eggs. Throughout the week, campers whisked, flipped, baked, fried, and sautéed their way through an exciting lineup of sweet and savory recipes while building confidence and developing valuable culinary skills in a fun, hands-on environment.
Under the guidance of Instructor Rylan, who led Culinary Arts, and Instructor Ava, who directed Baking and Pastry, campers explored essential cooking techniques including knife safety, proper food preparation, sautéing, baking, frying, and teamwork. Camp Counselor Sophia kept the energy high throughout the week, encouraging every junior chef as they challenged themselves with new recipes and cooking techniques.
The culinary menu was packed with hearty brunch favorites that gave campers plenty of opportunities to sharpen their skills. Junior chefs prepared Loaded Breakfast Burritos with Crispy Hash Browns, crispy Chicken and Waffles, flavorful Frico Egg Smash Tacos served with Spanish Rice, and Breakfast Flatbread with Smashed Breakfast Potatoes. Each recipe introduced new techniques while helping campers understand how simple ingredients can be transformed into delicious homemade meals.
In Baking and Pastry, campers filled the kitchen with incredible aromas as they created Cream Cheese Stuffed Cinnamon Roll Muffins, buttery Chocolate Chip Scones, moist Sour Cream Coffee Cake with Orange Honey Glaze, and homemade Amish Apple Fritter Bread. Throughout the week, campers practiced measuring, mixing, baking, and decorating while learning the importance of precision and patience in the pastry kitchen.
This week also introduced campers to several exciting pieces of kitchen equipment and professional cooking techniques. Junior chefs safely learned how to use waffle irons to create perfectly crisp waffles and gained hands-on experience using deep fryers, where they practiced proper frying techniques, temperature control, and kitchen safety under close instructor supervision. Campers also learned how to roast fresh red peppers from scratch, incorporating them into their Breakfast Flatbread with Smashed Breakfast Potatoes while discovering how roasting enhances both flavor and texture. These experiences helped junior chefs better understand professional cooking methods while reinforcing the importance of working safely, confidently, and creatively in the kitchen.
Beyond the delicious dishes, the week focused on developing lifelong skills that extend far beyond cooking. Campers strengthened their communication, practiced teamwork, improved their organization, and learned how planning, preparation, and attention to detail all contribute to success in the kitchen. Whether mastering a new cooking technique, trying an unfamiliar ingredient, or encouraging a teammate, every junior chef left with greater confidence and a deeper appreciation for cooking from scratch.
By the end of the week, campers headed home with an impressive collection of homemade brunch favorites, new culinary knowledge, and memories they will carry long after summer camp ends. It was another fantastic week at Central Montco Technical High School, filled with delicious food, exciting challenges, and plenty of reasons to smile.
A huge thank you to all of our amazing junior chefs and families for making Eggsquisite Brunch Camp such a memorable week. We can't wait to welcome everyone back for another Create-a-Cook culinary adventure!
