Late Summer Harvest Closes Out an Amazing Season at Central Montco!

Week 7 at our Central Montco Technical High School campus marked the grand finale of a delicious summer—and we couldn’t have imagined a better send-off than Late Summer Harvest! Whether it was a camper’s first week or their seventh, this session offered a vibrant, hands-on celebration of late summer’s bounty—encouraging junior chefs to cook with the freshest ingredients and savor the transition from summer to fall.

Under the guidance of Chef Jarrett, campers explored savory dishes that showcased summer’s final flavors and fall’s comforting transition. Their menu included:

• Pasta alla Norma – eggplant and tomato shine in this Sicilian classic

• Roasted Garlic White Mac and Cheese – creamy, rich, and loaded with flavor

• Beef Tostadas – topped with guacamole, refried black beans, and chipotle sour cream for a zesty, satisfying crunch

• Vegetable Stir Fry – colorful, crisp, and full of fresh market produce

On the baking side, Chef Megan helped junior chefs craft a lineup of sweet, seasonal delights that highlighted late summer’s fruits and cozy fall spices:

• Apple Cinnamon Blondies – warm, chewy, and filled with autumn flavor

• Blueberry Peach Scones – the perfect end-of-summer bite

• Plum Streusel Cake – a showstopper with sweet-tart plums and a crunchy crumble topping

• Berry Yogurt Parfaits with Granola – light, layered, and perfect for breakfast or dessert

Throughout the week, campers put their knife skills, flavor pairing, and presentation practice to use—bringing together everything they’ve learned this summer into beautiful, well-executed dishes. It wasn’t just about the recipes—it was about confidence, creativity, and community in the kitchen.

As the summer winds down, we’re filled with gratitude for all the junior chefs who joined us, the families who supported them, and the incredible energy brought by our staff. Late Summer Harvest reminded us of the simple joy of cooking with what’s fresh, what’s seasonal, and what’s made with love.
