Week 3 at our Central Montco location transported junior chefs straight to the heart of Italy with North of Tuscany, a hands-on culinary experience packed with fresh flavors, new techniques, and Italian flair! Guided by our expert chefs, campers took on regional recipes from the north of Italy, learning how to mix, chop, bake, and sauté like pros.

Chef Jarrett led the savory side of our Italian adventure with a menu that highlighted seasonal ingredients and classic dishes, including:
Panzanella – a rustic Tuscan bread salad with vibrant tomatoes and herbs
Pappardelle al Ragù di Manzo – rich and hearty beef ragù over wide, ribbon-like pasta
Zucchini and Corn Fritters – crispy, golden bites packed with summer vegetables
Risotto alla Milanese with Summer Vegetables and Tomato Concassé – a creamy saffron risotto brightened by fresh produce and classic technique
Chef Megan introduced campers to the sweeter side of Italian cuisine with beautifully plated desserts and refined flavors. Junior chefs created:
Tiramisu – creamy, coffee-kissed layers reimagined in a loaf pan
Orange Cheesecakes – individual desserts with citrusy flair, made in ramekins
Ciambella Cake – a traditional ring-shaped Italian treat with a tender crumb
Strawberry Tart – a stunning finale featuring buttery pastry and fresh berries
This week was all about developing confidence in the kitchen while celebrating the rich culinary traditions of Northern Italy. Our junior chefs impressed us with their creativity, teamwork, and enthusiasm every step of the way.
We can’t wait to see what delicious dishes they’ll whip up next week—buon lavoro to all our young chefs!
