Week 4 at Central Montco was a flavor-packed fiesta as our junior chefs took a deep dive into the vibrant cuisines of Mexico and Spain during Tacos to Tapas! From street-style tacos to beautifully plated tapas, this week was all about celebrating bold flavors, hands-on learning, and cultural discovery through food.

Chef Jarrett guided campers through a savory menu full of sizzling spices and fresh ingredients. Throughout the week, our chefs-in-training created:
Quesadillas with Pico de Gallo and Crema – warm, melty goodness paired with bright, fresh toppings
Spice-Braised Chicken Thighs and Chicken Tortas – packed with flavor and served on soft rolls
Elote – Mexican street corn slathered in creamy, tangy toppings
Summer Veggie Tacos and Spanish Rice – a colorful and satisfying vegetarian spread
Chipotle Bowls – customizable bowls layered with bold, smoky flavors

Chef Megan brought the sweet side of Latin cuisine to the spotlight, teaching campers how to whip up decadent desserts full of rich tradition and fun presentation. Junior chefs mastered:
Mexican Hot Chocolate Snickerdoodles – soft, chewy cookies with a warm cinnamon-cocoa twist
Tres Leches – a light, moist cake soaked in a trio of milks and topped with whipped cream
Chocoflan – a stunning two-layer dessert combining flan and chocolate cake in one magical bite
Churro Cupcakes – sweet cinnamon cupcakes with all the fun of a churro in a handheld treat
With each recipe, campers practiced important kitchen skills—from chopping and sautéing to balancing flavors and plating dishes with care. But beyond the food, this week was about connection, teamwork, and celebrating two cultures that know how to gather around great meals.
¡Olé and ¡Buen Provecho to our incredible young chefs! We’re so proud of everything they cooked up and can’t wait to see what they do next.
